Varah Temple
Varah Temple is one of the oldest and largest temples that form a significant part of Pushkar Pilgrimage. This temple is dedicated to the third incarnation of Lord Vishnu, The Varah. Lord Vishnu is the preserver according to the Hindu mythology.
The pilgrims flocking to Pushkar hold the Varah Temple in reverence. The idol of Lord Vishnu in the Varah incarnation inside the temple commands respect from all. The Varah Ghat (Bhathing Steps), on Pushkar Lake, near the temple is also quite popular among the pilgrims.
History of The Varah Temple
Built, destroyed and rebuilt at various times during the past, the Varah Temple, has an interesting history. It was first built during 1123 to 1150 By the King Anaji Chauhan.
The first destruction of the Varah Temple was by the Ghaznis followed by Aurangzeb.
The idol of Varah with the body of a man and the head of a wild boar repelled Aurangzeb and he destroyed the temple. The Varah Temple was reconstructed in 1727 by King Sawai Jai Singh II of Jaipur. Since now has a highly decorated inner sanctum where an idol of Varah is placed.
Legends
The legend associated with the Varah incarnation of Lord Vishnu is quite amazing. The demon Hirnayaksha stole the Vedas () from the gods and the task of retrieving the holy Vedas fell upon Lord Vishnu. The protector of the Universe, Lord Vishnu, assumed the shape of a wild boar and defeated the demon in a fierce battle.
Other Legends Says that Varah rescued the earth from the depth of the primeval water,Where it had been dragged down by demon Hirnayaksh
The world was saved from demon Hirnayaksh and the Varah incarnation of Lord Vishnu became a revered figure among the Hindus Mythology.

Bramha Temple Pushkar
Brahma forms the great Hindu trilogy of Brahma, Vishnu and Shiva, each symbolizing the lifecycle of birth, preservation and destruction.
Brahma the creator is depicted as of four bearded heads and four hands each holding a book of Vedas (knowledge). His vehicle is the swan and his consort is Savitri.
One of the major thriving temple of Brahma in pushkar can be identified by its red Spire and By the image of Hans -The swan considered sacred to Lord Brahma. The Four Faces Brahma idol is housed in Womb house which is the sanctum sanctorum. The sanctuary has silver doors inside a carved marble gateway.
